Overseas cover

CBHS provides very limited coverage for hospital treatments received overseas. Benefits are paid at the equivalent NSW non-agreement level for accommodation and no benefits are payable towards the cost of other hospital or doctors' fees. Benefits will only be paid for treatment that is for managing a disease, injury or condition which is chronic or permanent. CBHS recommends taking out travel insurance when travelling overseas.

Emergency Ambulance Transport

This cover pays the cost of emergency Ambulance services when transported directly to hospital or treated at the scene due to a medical emergency. Transport must be provided by Ambulance services recognised by CBHS. Ambulance benefits are not payable for transportation to hospital for the routine management of an ongoing medical condition or transportation between hospitals. Due to variations in State government legislation, not all States receive the same Ambulance benefits. Contact CBHS for more details.

Services

Some services such as surgical podiatry, laser eye surgery, cosmetic and plastic surgery do not attract a benefit from Medicare. Services that do not attract a benefit from Medicare will result in significant out-of pocket expenses regardless of your level of cover.
