I have single Basic Hospital cover and earn over $73,000. Now I have been told this is not enough to avoid paying the Medicare Levy Surcharge. Is this true?
No. The  Medicare Levy Surcharge is for 'higher' income earners who do not have Private Hospital cover. Basic Hospital is enough to be exempt from paying the additional levy.
