Active Kids Program | A NSW Government Initiative

24 January, 2018
Active Kids

Active Kids are Healthy Kids

Active Kids is a NSW Government initiative to help families get their kids enrolled in sports and physical recreation, aiming to reduce rates of childhood obesity and to create positive physical behavioural changes for the next generation.

How does it work?

Parents/guardians of NSW children that are aged 4.5 - 18 and are enrolled in Kindergarten to Year 12 (including home schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW) will need to set up an account on the MyServiceNSW website. You can then register for the Active Kids $100 voucher and from the 31st of January 2018 you will be able to download the voucher.

What sporting and fitness activities are eligible?

This voucher can be used towards registration or membership fees of structured activities that provide moderate to vigorous levels of physical activity. Activities can be no less than eight weeks long.

Here are some examples of what the voucher can be used for:

  • Sporting pursuits (soccer, football, netball, tennis)
  • Swimming lessons
  • Structured fitness programs
  • Outdoor education programs
  • Approved active recreation (such as dance)
  • Equipment ordinarily provided by the provider on registration for competition

Where can I redeem my voucher?

You can redeem your voucher through approved sport, fitness and physical activity providers upon registration at that sporting provider.

When does the program start?

Active Kids starts on the 31st January 2018 and will run for four years. Vouchers are valid from the 1st of Jan to 31st of December every year.
