CBHS private hospital benefits at Genea Fertility clinics

CBHS Group is committed to providing our members with private hospital cover options that represent quality and value.

To meet this commitment, we have agreements with 199 private and day hospitals across NSW and the ACT, including Genea Fertility clinics. Genea clinics include a group of four day hospitals which provide IVF treatment.

Unfortunately, Genea has recently issued a notice of termination of their agreement with CBHS. This termination will be effective from 14 December 2024.

The day hospitals impacted by this termination are:

  • Genea Canberra, 2 King St, Deakin ACT
  • Genea Day Surgery, 321 Kent St, Sydney NSW
  • Genea Liverpool, 173-175 Bigge St, Liverpool NSW
  • Genea Northwest, 10 Norbrik Drive, Bella Vista NSW

What are the impacts to members with an upcoming admission booked at a Genea day hospital?

There is no change for CBHS members whose hospital admission at a Genea day hospital is:

  • before 14 December 2024 (including where discharge is on or after 14 December 2024)
  • pre-booked before 14 December 2024, for an admission before 14 June 2025
  • part of an ongoing course of treatment; until the completion of the course of treatment or up to 14 June 2025, whichever occurs first.

If your admission falls into one of the above criteria, you will not be impacted by the contract termination.

What does this mean for members?

This means that if a member attends a Genea clinic for a procedure or treatment from 14 December 2024 (which was not booked before 14 December 2024), they’re likely to experience significant out-of-pocket costs.

As with all hospital admissions, we suggest members contact the hospital to confirm any out-of-pocket costs. To reduce out-of-pocket costs, members can also choose to be treated at an alternate CBHS agreement hospital
