In 1951, we were founded by CommBank to look after the health and wellbeing of all staff. To this date, we continue to support current and former employees of the CBA Group and their direct families.

Our mission

We are a member owned health fund providing a choice of products that meet our own members' needs through an exceptional service and value experience. We are known for improving the health and wellbeing of our members rather than just paying claims.

In 1951, CBHS Health Fund was established by CommBank...

CBHS was setup by the CBA Group to look after the health and wellbeing of its staff. In November 1996, CBHS separated from the Commonwealth Bank, and changed its name to CBHS Friendly Society. In 2007, CBHS opened its eligibility to immediate family members of CBA Group staff and ex-staff, and changed its name to CBHS Health Fund Limited. Although now separated from the Commonwealth Bank, we still retain the same core purpose to look after the health and wellbeing of CBA employees.

CBHS Health Fund is now a standalone not for profit fund, and is located in Parramatta, Sydney. We have expanded our local presence in each major state through our relationship representatives. These representatives routinely visit the CBA Group offices to communicate CBHS to new starters, provide comparison quotes and ensure that existing members are on the right level of coverage for their life stage.

Over 100 staff to service members

In Parramatta, CBHS Health Fund employs over 100 staff. You can visit our offices in Parramatta and talk to our staff in person, lodge claims or ask for a comparison quote. Due to our strong connections and history with the CBA Group, a number of our staff are former or transferred CBA Group employees. We have retained a professional, friendly and high service culture. This culture ensures that our members receive the benefits of a commercial organisation as well as the care and consideration that comes with a not for profit health fund.

At CBHS, we do not have the expenses that come with bricks and mortar branches. Instead, we are focusing on providing exceptional service via email, phone and web. In fact, we are expanding our online services and exploring new ways that we can service you from the comfort of your work or home. We are also constantly improving our provider and access gap networks to ensure that you have close access to these services.
