Health Hubs – in partnership with CommBank

Health Hubs are a joint initiative between CBHS and CommBank (CBA) to help improve the health and wellbeing of CBA employees. They represent the commitment both organisations have to the health, wellbeing and happiness of their employees and the broader CBA community.

What is a Health Hub?

The Health Hubs provide time-poor CBA employees, contractors and visitors with a convenient on-site location to check, understand, monitor and improve their health.

The Health Hubs deliver:

  • 24/7 access to SiSU self-service kiosks that provide easy to understand metrics such as heart age, blood pressure, BMI, body fat percentage and diabetes risk score
  • various interactive health technologies (VR, mobile games etc.)
  • access to CBHS Wellbeing Consultants – all qualified allied health professionals – via group and one-on-one consultations
  • health and wellbeing challenges
  • guidance on where to go for further help if needed
  • relaxation/mindfulness area with massage chair
  • a full calendar of virtual and on-site health programs and events such as meditation, live cooking demos, webinars and health screenings.

Saving lives along the way

The Health Hubs have saved lives. The SiSU health stations recommend users visit a GP if blood pressure or BMI results fall outside of safe levels. High blood pressure is often called ‘the silent killer’, and the Health Hub SiSUs have to date identified more than 5,500 users who fell outside the healthy range for blood pressure or BMI. They’ve also detected that 118 users had a blood pressure reading in the ‘severe’ category and issued an urgent recommendation to see a GP.

The Health Hubs have had a significant impact on the health of CommBank’s people, and we can see this through the improved health of those who have visited multiple times. Creating healthier and happier communities benefits all in the fund, through driving down the large claims that we might see when people fall very ill. This helps us keep delivering the great value products our members love.

A Bankwest employee attending training undertook a health scan which recommended that she visit her GP as a matter of priority. Her GP sent her straight to hospital in an ambulance where she then underwent open-heart surgery that day. She has made a full recovery and cannot thank CBA enough for “saving her life.”  - Anonymous Health Hub Visitor
