Frequently asked questions
Digital cards are now available for adults and children aged 15 and over on your policy. If your spouse has authority on the policy, they can add their own digital card by following the above steps in the CBHS app. For a spouse without authority, or children aged over 15, the main member can send them an invite from the app. See How do I invite a family member? below.
If you're the main member, you can send an invite to your spouse (if they don’t have authority) or children aged 15 and over so they can access their own digital card:
- Open the CBHS app
- Select 'Send Invite' under Digital Card in the menu
- Choose the family member the invite is for and enter their mobile number (By entering your family member’s mobile number, you confirm you have consent to share it for the purpose of sending a CBHS digital card invitation. CBHS will handle this information in line with our privacy policy).
- You'll receive a confirmation once the invite is sent
If your spouse has authority on your CBHS policy, they can set up their digital card themselves by downloading the CBHS app and following the standard steps. If your spouse doesn't have authority on the policy, the main member will need to send them an invite from the app. The invite will send them an SMS with a link to verify their account and access their digital card.
(Authorised adult dependants have authority to deal with CBHS in relation to their policy and view all personal and claims information on their membership. To update your authorised adult dependants, you will need to contact CBHS).
It may be helpful to keep it as a backup, for example, if:
- you have no access to internet, or
- your phone battery is flat
Otherwise, you can tap your digital card from your device at healthcare appointments instead of using your physical card.
Yes, if your provider has point-of-service claiming facilities, simply present your digital CBHS card like you would with your physical card and they’ll take the benefit off the total service fee gap. When visiting one of our Choice Network providers, you may not have any expenses at all.
You can use your CBHS digital card at any Extras provider with a compatible HICAPS card terminal, in the same way you would tap your plastic card (similar to tapping your bank card).
Each person accesses their own digital card on their own device. Spouses with authority on the policy can set up their card directly through the CBHS app. For other adults and children aged 15+ on your policy, the main member can send them an invite to access their own card. If you have multiple members on your policy showing on your card, you can select the correct one by tapping 'View Patient ID' when viewing your digital CBHS card.
The CBHS card is currently available for Apple and Android users. Make sure, you have the latest CBHS app to access the digital card.
Yes, Near-Field Communication (NFC) needs to be turned on in your phone settings so your Android device can communicate with the HICAPS terminal. You'll find NFC in your device's connection or wireless settings. Apple users don't need to do this separately.
You can access your CBHS digital card through the CBHS app. You'll need the latest version of the app, click on Digital Card in the navigation or quick links. If you have an Apple device and have already added it to your Apple Wallet, you can head straight there.
If you add or remove someone, update your name, or make any other policy changes, your digital card will automatically update to reflect the new details. You don't need to do anything - your CBHS digital card is designed to update in real time whenever your policy information changes.
Once your digital card is scanned, you will see a confirmation on your phone screen.
If your claim is successful:
- the benefit amount is automatically calculated
- your claim will be processed
- you will only pay the gap (if applicable).
To access your Android card click Digital Card in the CBHS app navigation, or quick links. The functionality to add to Google Wallet is not yet available in the CBHS app.
